Community - Peter Reimer
As a Grade 12 student, most of my hours are taken up at school, as Student Council president this year, and participating in debating, the science club, and various sports teams. When I get a chance I love to get involved in the greater community.
For a couple of great organizations, I have acted as the school coordinator, to generate participation and raise funds. For example, we increase the number of participants at the 12 Hours for the Homeless event and raised over $1000 this yearr for Chrysallis House. I also acted as the captain for the World Vision's 30 Hour Famine.
I also work with kids, and have done volunteer work at my church, and at Green Hill Lake Camp (45 minutes outside Fredericton). I volunteered for three summers at the camp in a variety of roles, including maintenance, cabin leadership, and programming.
This winter I organized a Sunday Afternoon Sports Club program in conjunction with the Fredericton YMCA to help integrate immigrant kids into the community through participation in sports. More information here...
This year I helped in the planning of the True Gaming summer day camp, opening in June 2010, offering a way help computer gaming kids to get beyond the couch to participate in a balanced healthy lifestyle.
